Pappy Van Winkle is one of the hardest-to-track-down bourbons in the world. Not far behind it are its younger Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery stablemates, Old Rip Van Winkle 10 Year and Van Winkle Special Reserve 12 Year. This bundle gives you a chance to acquire a bottle of both. The 10-year expression is bottled as close to barrel strength as possible, with a splash of Kentucky limestone well water used to tone it down just a hair. The resulting pour has a satisfying burn, with a rich, copper color and bold flavors of dried fruits and toasted nuts. Its older brother is bottled at a more modest 90.4 proof, giving it an amber color, a more nuanced flavor profile of caramel, nuts, and brown spice, and an exceptionally smooth character.
