The fiber wrapped around your foot in the norda 001A is the same ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene used in bulletproof vests, climbing ropes, and offshore yacht sails. It is 15 times stronger than steel and light enough to float on water. Montreal-based norda built its reputation on the original 001, and the 001A upgrades the formula with a bespoke Arnitel TPEE midsole derived from the brand's race-day 005, delivering 30% more energy return than the original. The seamless bio-circular Dyneema upper eliminates seams entirely for a glove-like fit that molds over time, while the Vibram Litebase Megagrip outsole, etched with a topo map inspired by the Canadian Shield, grips wet and dry surfaces with equal authority. It runs equally well on technical mountain descents and rooty singletrack. While other trail shoes are finished by 300 miles, the 001A is built to maintain consistent mechanical properties past 600 miles, so you can run the Colorado Trail and still have tread to spare.
