Editor’s Note

New Balance's 1000 style launched way back in 1999, but you'd never know it in this modern slate grey colorway. Its unique inverted upper design sees the mesh underlays emerge from the more prominent suede overlays. Underneath, a sculpted midsole contains ABZORB cushioning at the heel and forefoot, combining with the Stability Web midfoot shank for stability and comfort. At the base is a pod-like outsole, which joins other finishing details like embroidered details, reflective accents, and external nylon eyelets.
