In 1950, Hans and Florence Knoll gave Harry Bertoia the opportunity to design, sculpt, or create anything he wanted. The result is known as the Diamond Chair, after the patterns in the bent, welded steel of the upper seat. The base is similarly crafted from steel, with a polished chrome finish providing added visual interest, and a snap-on seat cushion adds comfort. Still produced by Knoll, it's an icon of mid-century design.
