Taken just seconds after Hank blasted #699, this original photo is a rare piece of memorabilia.
Hank Aaron ended his career with 755 home runs, but his chase for Babe Ruth's then-record 714 long balls hit a fever pitch when he blasted number 699. This Type 1 original image was taken by a UPI photographer on Friday night, July 20, 1973, at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium just seconds after Hammering' Hank made contact with a pitch from Phillies hurler Wayne Twitchell and sent it over the outfield wall for his 699th homer. The photo arrives in a white custom frame with white acid-free mats, a clear frame back through which to view the original details, and a UV protective acrylic cover.
A Type 1 photograph is a historical photograph that was developed from the original negative during the time period in which it was taken, usually by a publication.
