Field Notes makes tons of great notebooks, but only one is waterproof. Each Expedition notebook is printed on Yupo Synthetic paper, which is a tearproof, waterproof, synthetic paper that is basically plastic. The body pages are dot-graph printed in light gray, and the cover has a subtle varnish effect featuring a topographic map of Antarctica — a location you'd have no trouble documenting with one of these in hand.

Synthetic paper is nonporous and doesn't absorb ink like conventional paper. Ballpoint pens, pencils, or fine tip Sharpies work best.
