Editor’s Note

They're the two most populous cities in the USA, but the skylines of LA and NYC couldn't be more different — the tallest building in the former would just barely crack the top 10 in the latter, and the latter is highly compressed, while the former is famous for its sprawl. That makes this chess set a fun East Coast vs West Coast juxtaposition. The 32 injection-molded acrylic playing pieces include monochrome representations of iconic buildings like the Wilshire Grand Center, the Empire State Building, Los Angeles City Hall, and One World Trade Center. Fronted by pawns that are representations of commonly-seen homes in the respective cities, they sit on a Carrara marble playing board, lending an added dose of sophistication to the proceedings.
