WhistlePig takes its 12-year rye in a distinctly indulgent direction with this limited single-barrel release, finished in proprietary Maple Brûlée casks that previously held maple syrup. The underlying whiskey uses a high-rye mash bill of 94% rye and 6% malted barley, but the finishing process shifts the profile toward caramelized sweetness and dessert-like richness. At 86 proof, it opens with maple syrup, bananas foster, toasted brown sugar, and cinnamon before moving into graham cracker, crème brûlée, banana pudding, and light fruit. A lingering balance of burnt maple, icing sugar, and rye spice rounds it out.
