This year’s Birthday Bourbon is a 12-year-old, 92-proof spirit with a silky, sweet finish.
Introduced in 1870 as the founding product of what is now Brown-Forman, Old Forester was one of America's first bourbons sold exclusively in sealed bottles to ensure quality and capitalize on the 19th-century medicinal whiskey trade. The annual Birthday Bourbon, first bottled in 2002 to honor founder George Garvin Brown, returns with the 2025 release—a 12-year-old, 92-proof limited edition crafted with a rare sweet-mash fermentation instead of the traditional setback. Selected by Master Distiller Emeritus Chris Morris and Assistant Master Distiller Caleb Trigo and aged in Warehouse K, it delivers rich aromas of caramel and vanilla with a hint of spice, unfolding into a delicate, complex palate with a silky, sweet finish—a modern twist on a historic American classic.
