At 23.5 inches, the DMOS Axpedition is longer than a hatchet but still small enough to pack for a trip. A PTFE coating, the slick material on nonstick pans, covers the forged carbon steel blade so it is less likely to stick in deeper strikes. The handle is hollow fiberglass, which reduces weight without losing strength, and its rubber coating helps you keep a firm grip. After you're done splitting firewood, you use the sheath for safe storage.
