Most toasters dry bread out. BALMUDA figured out that a small burst of steam at the right moment is all it takes to keep the inside fluffy while the outside crisps. Founded by former rock musician Gen Terao, who retrained himself as an engineer after his band dissolved, the Tokyo brand has spent two decades rethinking how everyday appliances work and feel. The Toaster Pro is its most capable yet: a compact countertop oven ranging from 350 to 450 degrees that applies steam technology and precise three-zone heat control to deliver bakery-quality results at home. Six modes tailor the finish, including Shokupan, Golden Toast, Pizza, and Croissant. The standout addition is Salamander Grill Mode, which concentrates 1,300 watts of heat from the top coils in bursts as short as one minute, replicating the overhead broilers found in professional kitchens and turning a home countertop into something closer to a restaurant pass. It's the rare piece of kitchen equipment you'll actually want to leave out permanently.
