Editor’s Note

Unlike traditional incense burners, which release all their smoke into the air, backflow burners rely on a hollowed-out cone and the curvature of the burner, which ensures that smoke flows downward. As it does, the resulting "waterfall" of smoke flows down over a finely-detailed sculpture, creating a powerful visual effect. Options include a skull, bear, snake, bison, and volcano, all of which come with two tins of 20 cones each and a pair of tweezers.
