A dark-gray Seiko inspired by the 1969 Speedtimer, one of the first automatic chronographs.
Easily legible in the dead of night, the Seiko Prospex SSC917 Chronograph is a part of the brand's Black Series, which is easy to decode based on the name. This timepiece relies on the sun to power its movement and charge its lumed hour, minute, and chronograph hands and hour markers. The newly developed Green LumiBrite Pro helps this watch switch into "night vision" when needed, creating a stark contrast between the dark gray dial, case, tachymeter bezel, and bracelet and the neon green timekeeping components. Inspired by the 1969 Seiko Speedtimer, one of the first automatic chronographs, this Prospex carries on the tradition with a chronograph feature that measures up to 60 minutes of elapsed time in 1/5-second increments with an added split time measurement function and a 24-hour indicator. There's also a power reserve indicator, as well as a date calendar.
