In 1964, Muhammad Ali, at that time still Cassius Clay, won his first fight against Sonny Liston as an 8-to-1 underdog when Liston stayed on his stool and didn't answer the bell for the seventh round. The next year, Ali dropped Liston 1 minute and 44 seconds into the first round of their rematch in Lewiston, Maine, then stood over him and shouted, "Get up and fight, sucker!" The knockout punch was so quick that sportswriter Jimmy Cannon said, "I saw that punch and it couldn't have crushed a grape," and people still argue over whether it was real. Bettmann's photograph of Ali standing over Liston is now a framed print, made to order in the U.S. and numbered, with the story behind the photograph attached to the back.
