CountyComm, founded in Sunnyvale, California, in 1992, designs and manufactures gear for government agencies, and its Maratac brand translates that expertise to equipping civilian adventures. Originally used to snag trip wires, the Maratac Grappling Hooks are made in three sizes: the half-ounce Pico and 1.5-ounce Micro in stainless steel, and the 5-ounce Pocket with an aluminum body. Every size has an O-ring-sealed compartment for storage, and the Pocket's stainless steel spikes unscrew and stow inside its body.
