It uses witch hazel to disinfect and tone the skin, plus aloe to soothe any redness and irritation. It's old school grooming, and doesn't give you that Home Alone burn, instead it cools the face after a proper shave. Massage a few drops into freshly shaved skin, in downward circular motion.
